NSW: Mum accused of murdering children resented them, court told

A Sydney court's been told a woman standing trial for the murder of her four youngchildren resented their intrusion into her life.

Thirty-four-year-old KATHLEEN FOLBIGG has pleaded not guilty in the New South WalesSupreme Court to murdering her four children -- aged between 19 days and 19 months --over a 10-year period in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

She's also pleaded not guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on one of the children.

Crown Prosecutor MARK TEDESCHI, QC, has told the court FOLBIGG had a low tolerancefor stress and resented the children for interrupting her life.

He said she was constantly preoccupied with her weight gain, partly because she couldn'tget to the gym because of her children.

CALEB GIBSON FOLBIGG, aged 19 days, died in February 1989 in the Newcastle suburb of Mayfield.

Eight-month-old PATRICK FOLBIGG died in February 1991, at the same address.

Eleven-month-old SARAH FOLBIGG died in August 1993 at Thornton, near Newcastle.

And 19-month-old LAURA FOLBIGG died in March 1999 at Singleton, in the Hunter Valley.
